Tyrwhitt

Tyrwhitt, THOMAS (l730-86) son of a London clergyman, was educated at Eton and Oxford and was from 1762 to 1768 clerk of the House of Commons. After his retirement he edited Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1775). He also took part in the exposure of Chatterton's forgeries, and was the author of Conjectures on various Greek authors.
