SabotSabot, a shoe carved out of a single piece of wood, and much employed by the country people in France, Germany, and Belgium, many parts of these countries being noted for their manufacture. Another form of sabot consists of a wooden iron-bound sole, with sides of strong leather. This "clog" is in general use in the Lancashire manufacturing towns, where it was introduced from abroad. The name is also employed metaphorically in some trades.
