Rouge. Jeweller's rouge, employed as a polishing powder for gold and silver and also used for cosmetic purposes, consists of an oxide of iron - ferric oxide (Fe203) - and is obtained by heating the sulphate, carbonate, or hydrate of iron in presence of air.
