Rampion

Rampion, or Ramp (a corruption of the Latin ranunculus, a diminutive of rapa, "a turnip"), is the old English name for a species of Campanula (C. Rapunculus), which, with allied forms, is still cultivated in France and Italy for the sake of its roots. The name is also applied to the genus Phyteuma, allied to the Campanulas. It is rare in Britain, but extremely common in the Alps.
