Postmortem Examination

Post-mortem Examination. An examination of the body of a dead person is sometimes made, with the consent of the relatives or friends, with a view to establishing the diagnosis of the disease which has caused death, in instances where the symptoms during life have been obscure. Where there has been no medical attendance during life, or where there is any suspicion of foul play, the coroner may order a post-mortem to be made.
