Pedro II., De Alcantaea

Pedro II., De Alcantaea (1825-91), was declared emperor in 1831. After a long and peaceful reign, during which he did much for the development of his country, a sudden revolution forced him to leave Brazil for Europe (1889). He then took up his abode in France.
