Ordericus Vitalis

Ordericus Vitalis, author of Historic Ecclesiastical, was born in 1075. Though his mother was English and he called himself "Orderic the Englishman," he lived from the age of ten till his death (between 1143 and 1145) in the abbey of St. Evroul in Normandy. Here he wrote his history, considered valuable as an authority for the reigns of the first two Norman kings of England.
