Mallet, Paul Henri (1730-1807), antiquary, was born at Geneva, and in 1752 was professor of belles lettres at Copenhagen. In 1755 he published an Introduction to the History of Benmark, and in 1756 a second part on the mythology and poetry of the Celts and ancient Scandinavians. This was translated into English under the title of Northern Antiquities by Bishop Percy, in 1770. Mallet then became tutor to the Prince of Denmark, and in 1760 professor of history at Geneva.
