Logan

Logan, Sie William Edmond (1798-1875), Canadian geologist, born in Montreal, was for ten years in a London office. He then went to Wales, where his geological studies attracted attention. From 1843 to 1871 he was chief of the geological survey of Canada, and he also assisted in the survey of Britain. He was knighted in 1856, and received the Wollaston Medal of the London Geological Society. His writings appear in the reports of the Canadian survey, and the Proceedings of the British Association and of the Geological Society.
