Khassonkes

Khassonkes, a Negroid people of Senegal, who are a branch of the Soninkes of Mandingan stock. They occupy the Khasso district (whence their name), and extend along the Senegal river between the Faleme confluence and Bafulabe. Two main divisions - Gadiagas on the left and Guidimakas on the right bank of the river. The Khassonkes are generally regarded as the result of crossings between the Soninkes on the one hand and the Berbers and Fulahs on the other.
