Ilori

Ilori (Ilorin or Alori), a large town in Africa, situated about 150 miles N.E. from the Bight of Benin. The inhabitants are chiefly Yorubans, and Mohammedanism predominates. A large trade is done in the bazaars, to which goods are brought not merely from the interior, but from the Mediterranean and Guinea coasts. It has been visited by Booth, Lander, and Burton, from whom we gather that the walls have a circuit of twelve miles.
