Homaloptera

Homaloptera (Pupipara), a division of Diptera, the members of which are all parasitic. Such are Hippobosca, which lives on the horse; Bee-lice, which infest bees; and Sheep-ticks. Orniihoiuyia occurs on birds, while the family Nycteribider infests bats. One of the most interesting points in the group is the fact that the egg stage is suppressed, and the young are born directly as pupee. These have long spreading legs, and resemble young spiders in appearance.
