Halleck Fitzgreene

Halleck, Fitzgreene (1790-1867), an American poet, was a native of Guildford, Connecticut.

He was for some time private secretary to J. J. Astor, who left him a small annuity which enabled him henceforth to lead a retired life. In 1822 he paid a visit to Europe. His chief poems were Fanny, a satire, and Young America (1865). His Life and Letters were edited by James C-ant Wilson, who also collected his works.
