Haematuria

Haematuria, the occurrence of blood in the urine. This symptom may be due to disease (injury, inflammation, calculus, cancerous growth or parasites) affecting the kidney, ureter, bladder or urethra. It occurs also in consequence of the use of certain drugs, and a variety of haematuria, paroxysmal haematuria, deserves special mention. In this last-named disease, which is very uncommon, the attacks of haematuria occur at irregular intervals, and are accompanied by shivering fits.
