Geijer

Geijer, or Geyer, Eric Gustav, born in 1783 at Rarsater, Sweden, was educated at Upsala, and went into the Record Office at Stockholm. He founded "The Gothic Society," and to its journal Iduna he contributed The Viking, the Lost Skald, and many jther spirited patriotic poems, with many prose bssays. In 1817 he was appointed professor of history at Upsala, and eight years later he completed the first volume of Svea Bikes Hdfder, an able inquiry into legendary Swedish history. His great work, Svenslia Folhets Historia, appeared between 1832 and 1836, but was never carried beyond the close of Christina's reign. His Sketch of Sweden front the Death of Chccrles XII. to the Reign of Gustavus III. comes next in importance. He retired from his professorship in 1846, and died next year at Stockholm.
