Feu

Feu, or Few, a free and gratuitous right to lands made in consideration of services to be performed according to the proper nature thereof.

Feu in Scots law means vassal tenure, as against wardholding or military tenure, being that holding where the vassal, instead of military service, gives a return in money, which is termed the feu duty or feu annual. In Scotland building land is usually granted on feu not on lease, so that the owner granting land for building has not, as in England, a reversion, but grants the land in perpetuity in consideration of a perpetual annual rent-charge or payment.
