Fabricius, or Fabrizio, GirolamoFabricius, or Fabrizio, Girolamo, called "Aquapendente" from his birthplace, was born in 1537, and became a famous professor of anatomy in the university of Padua, where Harvey was his pupil. His discovery of the valves of the veins led to the latter's theory of the circulation of the blood. He died in 1619.
