Evreux

Evreux (ancient Civitas Eburovicum), the capital of the French department of Eure, 57 miles N.W. of Paris, in the valley of the Iton, which divides the town into three parts. It has a good cathedral, with a spire 256 feet high, an interesting abbey, and an hotel de ville, which was once a palace of the Dukes of Bouillon. Among its industries are the manufacture of hosiery and leather, and there is a considerable trade in cattle, corn, seeds, and timber.
