Epiphytic Orchids

Epiphytic Orchids, a large proportion of the tropical members of the order which live as epiphytes (q.v.). Their aeriahroots are often green, and are sometimes furnished with a special spongy external absorbent layer, or velamen. Their branches are commonly thickened into ovoid green "pseudo-bulbs."
