Ebers

Ebers, Georg, born at Berlin (1837), a renowned Egyptologist. After studying the subject and visiting most of the European museums, proceeded to the East in 1869, and was appointed the next year Professor of Egyptology at Leipzig. In 1875 he published a papyrus which he had discovered, and which was named after him. He had already published one volume of a work upon the Egyptians and the Book of Moses, and other works, but illness stopped his more serious work, and he then occupied himself in writing novels.
