Blanqui Jerome Adolphe

Blanqui, Jerome Adolphe, political econonomist, was born in 1798 at Nice. While a student at Paris he acquired the friendship of J. B. Say, through whom he was induced to study economics, and whom in 1823 he succeeded as professor at the Conservatoire des Arts et Metiers. He was an advocate of free trade doctrines. His chief work is Histoire de I'Economie Politique en Europe, depuis les anciens jusqu'a nos jours (5 vols. 1837-42). He died in 1854 at Paris.
