Barre Isaac

Barre, Isaac, Colonel, of French extraction, born at Dublin, entered the army and served in Canada under Wolfe. He got into Parliament in 1761, and was appointed Privy Councillor in 1766. He played a conspicuous part in the politics of the last half of the century in connection with the elder and younger Pitt. He is one of the many persons to whom the Letters of Junius have been ascribed. He died in 1802.
