Baratynski

Baratynski, Jervgenij Abramovitch, born in Russia in 1800, entered the army, but after eight years' service was compelled to resign, owing to some youthful misconduct. He then settled at Moscow and gave himself up to poetry, writing his masterpiece, The Gipsy. His health broke down, and he sought a warmer climate at Naples, where he died in 1844.
