BaezaBaeza (anc. Beatia), a town in the province of Jaen, Spain, situated on an eminence three miles from the river Guadalquivir. Under the Moors it was the capital of a kingdom and strongly fortified, some of the old gates and walls still remaining, but it was sacked and ruined in 1238.
