Arthurs Seat

Arthur's Seat, a hill just outside Edinburgh to N.E., having an elevation of 822 feet above sea-level. It consists of igneous rocks mixed with sedimentary strata of the Carboniferous period. The name is said to be derived by the familiar process of mythopoea from two Keltic words signifying "Hill of Arrows," the place having served as a range for archers, but the Arthurian legend has penetrated even farther north than this.
